Fellow pet owners, what's your take on this?
My landlady called yesterday about a homeowner's complaint on us from some lady that lives possibly 10 blocks away. Normally, old ladies are sweet, especially to dogs that run towards them with their little tails wagging as if to say "pet me! pet me!", but last week, someone I've met had a different take on my little shih-tzu.
"Leash her..." she says "...or I'll call the cops on you."
What leash was she talking about? I was only 10 feet away from my condo unit letting the dog out to poop or pee right on my front yard. It's her that didn't need to be walking around in my area since she lives on the other side of the complex, which...may I say, is already considered a different apartment from a different company than ours. Besides, the last time a cop came to check on the area at night and saw my dogie unleashed, he melted out to pet the dog and just gave me a little nod.
So yeah, what cop was she talking about calling in the first place?
Anyway, things had turned to her advantage when she took this up to the homeowners association and had my landlady noted. The sweet landlady of mine, bless her heart, understood the situation but was wary of the way I raise my pets. So from now on, have to be careful with my dog because if something like this was to happen again, she will be fined at least $2,000 for the incident.
Can we say what the
Yeah, I'd say so too.
It's not that I will push my luck to see how far this would go, but I need to ask my fellow pet owners, do I have a take on this if things happen to get worse (I'm sure that pissy lady lurks around my area now to spy on me, and then kicks me out of the curb as soon as the shih-tzu happen to be out of her leash)? What are the chances of talking myself out of the situation, supposed I would have to, considering she doesn't really live in my area? And how the hell did she get around to fining my land lady (the biggest question)?
Please....any feedback will help!
Thanks in advance!!!

Wow! Damn! Grumpy old ppl like that really piss me off. Argh!
I really dunno what relevant advice I could give, because although Old Lady is being a royal asshole, she may have the "law" on her side... which sucks balls... especially if your landlady were to be fine $2000!
Me being mature me... I'd probably ring her doorbell and 2am and run! Just to be an asshole too!
That does suck big time chica. If you're dog's a gem then there should be no problem, but taking on the flip side the old (and annoying) lady is probably just afraid of dogs or something and perhaps a bit over cautious. Unfortunately, mentalthreesixty probably has a point... the law may just be on her side.
How bad would a leash be? Perhaps, this is one you might just want to give in on in order to spare yourself from bigger potential problems.
Good luck hon! I'm rooting for you that the lady realizes what a sweet dog you have and drops her beef.
as my DJ friend would say.....
The woman needs to get laid!
Just put your dog on a leash, that should silence her. No use letting your sweet landlady suffer that hefty fine of $ 2,000 just for that minor infraction. Well, as the saying goes, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." But that intolerable lady should also learn to "live and let live." I commiserate with your predicament. But it is better to turn the other cheek for then God will vindicate you. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
The advice I can give is to check into your local laws. I do know that in our area you have to have your dog on a leash even if you are on your own property (unless the dog is in a fenced in area - invisible or otherwise). I am not sure where you are or what your laws are.
I have 2 Shih-tzu's and honestly they are the sweetest dogs EVER, so the lady down your street is just being cautious about dogs in general. Some people are such sticklers that they get their panties in a wad over everything. She's more than likely just a busy body that doesn't know when to keep to herself.
All that said, I would still put your dog on a leash though, because the last thing you want to do is mess up your relationship with your landlady and it doesn't seem fair that she would be fined for something you did.
Good luck with all of it!
Thanks guys for your comments. I had kept my dog on a leash since then, so it shouldn't be an issue anymore. although the lady still keeps appearing around my area, and she gives me this look that just annoys me to the bone. She doesn't like my dog, but the sweetest thing always itches to approach her everytime she walks by. The leash just keeps her in place because I won't let her near the lady at all. I bet she purposely walk around my area to spy on me.....really really irrititating.
thanks again guys.....lots of love :)
Hi Marj, I hope your puppy is ok with the leash.. poor soul, just because of that nearly demented lady.
